  • Art Teacher

    Newtown Friends School is seeking candidates for a full time K – 8th grade Art Teacher. The position includes the following responsibilities:

    • Teach general art to students in grades K through 6, and art electives to students in grades 7 and 8 (electives meet 4 times per week)
    • Incorporate a wide range of fine arts materials into lessons and have a strong knowledge of art history, multi-cultural art, and current art trends
    • Incorporate digital media and technology into the classroom
    • Teach low-fire ceramics and fire/maintain an electric kiln
    • Maintain a budget, order supplies, and track purchases
    • Display artwork and document artwork for social media
    • Maintain a high level of organization in a creative and dynamic environment
    • Collaborate and plan with teachers to promote holistic learning
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Art or Art Education. An advanced degree is desired, as is teaching experience encompassing both elementary and middle school grades. Candidates should have a desire to mentor and support students' development of the necessary academic, social, and attitudinal skills to achieve success in today’s world. Familiarity with Quaker education is advantageous. The ability to coach is a plus.   • Bus Driver

    Newtown Friends School is seeking to hire bus drivers to transport students, teachers, and chaperones to and from field trips on an “as needed basis” for the school year. Typical trips take place Monday through Friday between 9:00am and 3:00pm, no nights and weekends. Field trips are usually to local museums, farms, orchards, and other locations within one hour of Newtown Friends School.

    Requirements:
    Current CDL class B with passenger & air brakes
    Current DOT medical card
    More than 2 years bus driving experience
    Pass a complete background investigation

  • Substitute Teachers

    Newtown Friends School is looking for educators or professionals who have experience working in a school to serve as substitute teachers on a per diem basis, as needed.
