Return to School 2020

Newtown Friends School is committed to having our students return to campus in a safe environment. Throughout the spring and summer, Newtown Friends School administrators, in coordination with a Covid-19 Task Force composed of members of the School Committee, faculty, and parents, worked diligently in planning for the reopening of school.  The group actively and creatively developed a range of possible contingency plans including modifications to the schedule and calendar, a blend of virtual and in-person learning, health and hygiene measures, using the school building differently, policies for group gatherings such as athletics and assemblies, and ways to apply our longstanding educational strengths within a range of learning modes that will meet the needs of our school community.

Our plans reflect information and recommendations from the following sources:

Centers for Disease Control (CDC)

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania School Phased Reopening Guidance

Guidance and Resources for Schools During COVID-19

They also reflect best practices in creating a robust learning environment under the current conditions.

Guided by our mission, we continue to work in close partnership with our parents and families to help keep our community as safe as possible.
