  • Fifth Grade Teacher

    The Lower School is seeking dynamic candidates for a full-time 5th grade classroom teacher with a passion for teaching students reading and writing. Strong candidates will have experience teaching with Responsive Classroom and the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project workshop model. Familiarity with Quaker education is advantageous. Candidates must have excellent rapport with and knowledge of 5th grade students and enjoy working with them in a variety of school activities in addition to classroom teaching. We seek candidates with expertise in providing students active, hands-on experiences incorporating digital media technology. Candidates should have a desire to mentor and support students' development of the necessary academic, social, and attitudinal skills to achieve 21st-century leadership. The ability to coach or teach after school clubs is a plus.

    Qualifications: Candidates should have a degree in Elementary Education in addition to three years of classroom experience.

  • Physical Education Teacher/Athletic Director

    Newtown Friends School is seeking candidates for a full time physical education teacher to teach students in grades pre-K through 8. Additionally, this position acts as the School’s Athletic Director fully responsible for supervising the part-time athletics staff including shared responsibility for training, mentoring and evaluating.

    Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Health. An advanced degree is desired but not required. Ideal candidates will have five years or more teaching experience encompassing both elementary and middle school grades. Experience as Athletic Director is preferred and significant coaching experience is required. Familiarity with Quaker education is advantageous.

  • Bus Driver

    Newtown Friends School is seeking to hire bus drivers to transport students, teachers, and chaperones to and from field trips on an “as needed basis” for the 2016–2017 school year. Typical trips take place Monday through Friday between 9:00am and 3:00pm, no nights and weekends. Field trips are usually to local museums, farms, orchards, and other locations within one hour of Newtown Friends School.

    Requirements:
    Current CDL class B with passenger & air brakes
    Current DOT medical card
    More than 2 years bus driving experience
    Pass a complete background investigation
