  • Mathematics Teacher

    The Upper School is seeking candidates for a full time 7th/8th grade mathematics teacher.  Applicants must have a broad background in mathematics topics from pre-algebra to algebra 1 and algebra 2.  Math teaching experience (grades 6 – 8) preferred.  Experience working with cooperative and differentiated instruction is desired. 
    Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Math or an Education degree with a Mathematics focus.  An advanced degree is desired.  The successful candidate will have excellent rapport with and knowledge of middle school students (ages 10 – 14) and enjoy working with them in a variety of school activities in addition to classroom teaching.  We seek candidates with expertise in providing students active hands-on experiences incorporating digital media technology.  Candidates should have a desire to mentor and support students' development of the necessary academic, social, and attitudinal skills to achieve 21st-Century leadership.   Familiarity with Quaker education is advantageous.  The ability to coach is a plus.

  • Running Coach

    Job responsibilities:
    Organize workouts and direct practices for middle school cross country (September to October) and track and field (late March to May) athletes (ages 10-14). Typical practice days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons after school from 3:15 pm to 4:45 pm. There can be flexibility from week to week with the chosen practice days but we find that the above days generally fit best. Some practices, depending on location, can last until 5:00 pm. Competition days will vary but often fall on the above mentioned days with a couple Saturday events taking place in the spring and possible Saturday road or XC races in the fall. Coaching duties include; teaching proper running form, helping team members to set goals, encouraging sportsmanship, and creating a positive and enjoyable atmosphere. Must accompany team to competitions and coordinate with other coaches. Assist Athletic Director with scheduling and planning as necessary. Assist Athletic Director and meet officials/consultants with home meets (including setting up and marking of course, providing race instructions, capturing and providing results, and coordinating volunteers). Must communicate well with parents. Passion and excitement for running is a plus! Applicant must pass federal and state background checks.

  • Bus Driver

    Newtown Friends School is seeking to hire bus drivers to transport students, teachers, and chaperones to and from field trips on an “as needed basis” for the school year. Typical trips take place Monday through Friday between 9:00am and 3:00pm, no nights and weekends. Field trips are usually to local museums, farms, orchards, and other locations within one hour of Newtown Friends School.

    Current CDL class B with passenger & air brakes
    Current DOT medical card
    More than 2 years bus driving experience
    Pass a complete background investigation
