Newtown Friends School’s after-school opportunities vary depending on the time of year and the age of the student. Options include extended day care, after-school clubs, and interscholastic athletics.

List of 3 items.

  • Extended Day Care

Extended day care is available for all NFS students, Monday through Friday from 7:15 am to 7:45 am and again from the close of school until 6 pm. Extended day care is not available in the event of early school closings due to weather.

  • After-School Clubs

Children from pre-K to eighth grade enjoy NFS’s after-school club program, offering enrichment and fun after the regular school day ends. Clubs are held each day of the week during all three terms and cover a variety of topics, including the academic, artistic, and purely recreational. About half of NFS students take part in the program, and many opt for multiple clubs.

  • Athletics

NFS’s interscholastic sports teams attract a large number of energetic student-athletes, many of whom play all three seasons. Teams are open to upper schoolers, with a few teams available to fifth graders. Participation, camaraderie, skill development, sportsmanship, and having fun are all stressed, and games—especially big games—often draw enthusiastic crowds of parents and fellow students.
