Planning for the Future

We invite you to support Newtown Friends School by making a planned gift through your will, life insurance policy, or retirement assets. By naming Newtown Friends School as beneficiary of your will, retirement plan, or life insurance policy, you support our mission and impact the school for many generations to come. Planned gifts strengthen the school for the future, ensuring sustained funds for tuition aid, professional development, and faculty salaries and benefits. We encourage you to consult with your professional tax advisor before making a contribution.

If you have included Newtown Friends School in your estate plans, please let us know. We would like to thank you for your generosity and welcome you to the Circle of Friends, our planned giving society that recognizes and honors those alumni, parents and friends who have included the school in their estate plans.

Thank you for considering a gift to support Newtown Friends School. For more information on planned giving or about becoming a member of the Circle of Friends, please contact Diane Zimmaro, Director of Advancement.

Donor Profile - Karen and Tom Buroojy

Karen and Tom Buroojy have been a part of the Newtown Friends School community for over 20 years, beginning in 1996 when their three children, Lisa ’98, Lauren ’00 and Nicholas ’03, started attending NFS. “We have always felt part of a very special community here at NFS,” says Karen. “We credit the wonderful faculty and staff with giving our children a solid foundation for learning and instilling in them core Quaker values. Tom and I enjoyed wonderful friendships with our fellow parents, too, that have continued to this day.”

Their most recent decision to make a gift of a paid-up life insurance policy was made to have an impact on the school financially in the future. With Newtown Friends as the named beneficiary, the school will receive the proceeds as part of the Burooys’ estate. The gift will be added to the school’s endowment, allowing NFS to further its mission. “When I realized we had a life insurance policy that we no longer needed, it was an easy decision to make an additional gift to the school,” explains Karen. “You don’t need to use cash to make a gift to NFS. You can give an asset that can help the school.”

“We give in appreciation of the wonderful foundation NFS gave to our children, and a desire to make that experience available to the next generation of students.”
