Newtown Friends School is excited to announce that former Head of School, Steve Nierenberg will participate in a challenging 100 mile bike ride through New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine in support of NFS! Steve is celebrating his 70th birthday this year and decided that a Century Bike Ride would be a great way to support the school that continues to mean so much to him and his family.
Steve will be participating in a Century Bike Ride, along with a team of cyclists in New Hampshire on September 21st , which will take him through 3 states over the course of a single day. You don’t need to be a cyclist, nor be in New Hampshire to support the bike ride! To participate, join us in following Steve’s route and times on September 21st and cheering him on as he reaches this challenging achievement, and please make a donation to the Steve Nierenberg Fund with the notation "Riding for Friends." A link to the ride will be posted on the NFS Facebook page and on our website on the day of the race.Steve Nierenberg Fund for Professional Development
As Head of School and a teacher and division head, Steve dedicated himself to Newtown Friends for nearly a quarter century. Upon his retirement in 2009, the Steve Nierenberg Fund for Professional Development was established to attract and retain high-quality faculty and staff, provide students with the tools needed in a changing work, and enrich the entire school community. All donations to the Riding for Friends Century Bike Ride will go toward this fund to continue to support the faculty, staff and students at Newtown Friends School.
