Learning Beyond the Classroom: Eighth Grade at Shepherd’s Spring Global Village

Our eighth graders recently stepped outside the classroom and into the world at Shepherd’s Spring Heifer Global Village, a hands-on opportunity to explore cultures, communities, and perspectives from around the globe.

Through immersive activities and shared experiences, students were encouraged to see the world through different lenses, ask thoughtful questions, and discover both the differences and connections that unite people across cultures. The Global Village experience helps students build empathy, cultural awareness, collaboration, and a deeper appreciation for the diverse world around them.

For our students, learning about global communities wasn’t just something they read about—it was something they experienced together. By stepping into unfamiliar perspectives and working as a group, they strengthened their ability to listen, adapt, communicate, and consider how their choices can impact others.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to give our eighth graders experiences that inspire curiosity, compassion, and a sense of responsibility as members of a global community.
