  • Elementary School Teacher

    The Lower School is seeking dynamic candidates for full time teaching positions in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. Applicants should have at least three years of relevant teaching experience. Candidates having familiarity with Responsive Classroom, Singapore Math, and Readers’ and Writers’ Workshop are desired. Classroom teachers are responsible for teaching Language Arts, Math, and Social Studies.

    Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. An advanced degree is desired. The successful candidate will have excellent rapport with and knowledge of elementary students and enjoy working with them in a variety of school activities in addition to classroom teaching. We seek candidates with expertise in providing students active, hands-on experiences that incorporate digital media technology. Candidates should have an openness to collaborating with grade-partners and working with an associate. They should have an interest in supporting students' development of the necessary academic, social, and attitudinal skills to achieve 21st-Century leadership. Familiarity with Quaker education and the ability to coach is a plus.

  • Lower and Middle School Spanish Teacher

    Newtown Friends School is seeking an outstanding, energetic, and fluent candidate for the full time position of Lower and Middle School Spanish Teacher. Applicants should have at least three years of relevant teaching experience. Candidates for the position must be familiar and comfortable with Immersion language programs and relevant methodologies. Newtown Friends School has achieved candidacy status for the Middle Years Program of the International Baccalaureate, and so candidates with IB experience are sought.

    Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline is required. An advanced degree is desired. The successful candidate will have excellent rapport with and knowledge of elementary school students and enjoy working with them in a variety of school activities in addition to classroom teaching. Candidates must have the ability to work well collaboratively with colleagues. Spanish language proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking is required along with the ability to conduct classes in the target language.   • Mathematics Teacher

    Newtown Friends School is seeking candidates for a full time Middle School mathematics teacher. Applicants must have a broad background in mathematics topics from pre-algebra to algebra 1 and algebra 2. Math teaching experience (grades 6 – 8) preferred. Experience working with cooperative and differentiated instruction is desired. Newtown Friends School has been approved for candidacy to the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program, and the successful candidate will ideally have IB experience or a strong desire to learn the IB program.

    Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in math or an education degree with a mathematics focus. An advanced degree is desired. The successful candidate will have excellent rapport with, and knowledge of, middle school students (ages 10 – 14) and enjoy working with them in a variety of school activities in addition to classroom teaching.   • Middle School Math, Science, and STEM Teacher

    Newtown Friends School is seeking dynamic candidates for a full time Middle School math, science, and STEM teacher. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, at least three years of experience teaching math or science, and a genuine affinity for students of this age group. An advanced degree is preferred, though not required.

    Applicants must have a broad background in math and science topics from pre-algebra to algebra 1 and algebra 2, and a knowledge of an NGSS-based science curriculum. In addition to math and science classes, the successful candidate will also teach and develop coding, robotics, and digitally based elective classes. Newtown Friends School has been approved for candidacy to the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program, and the successful candidate will create and develop the courses necessary to meet the annual IB Design requirements.

    Experience in providing students active, hands-on experiences incorporating digital media technology, and experience working with cooperative and differentiated instruction is desired. Familiarity with Quaker education is advantageous. This position involves being a homeroom teacher and an advisor. Candidates should possess an ability to mentor and support students' development of the necessary academic, social, and attitudinal skills to achieve 21st-Century leadership.   • Bus Driver

    Newtown Friends School is seeking to hire bus drivers to transport students, teachers, and chaperones to and from field trips on an “as needed basis” for the school year. Typical trips take place Monday through Friday between 9:00am and 3:00pm, no nights and weekends. Field trips are usually to local museums, farms, orchards, and other locations within one hour of Newtown Friends School.

    Requirements:
    Current CDL class B with passenger & air brakes
    Current DOT medical card
    More than 2 years bus driving experience
    Pass a complete background investigation
