Admissions

Admission Process

Admission to Newtown Friends School is selective because of the limited amount of space and the large number of applicants. To apply for admission, please complete an online application by January 15.  Applications received after the January 15 deadline will be reviewed on a rolling basis as space allows.

List of 4 items.

  • Pre-K Applicants

Upon receipt of the completed application, we invite the child to visit the school for a small admissions playgroup, at which time we evaluate each child.   Our goal during this process is to provide opportunities for the school to determine if Newtown Friends School can provide for the educational needs of each applicant.  Please note that it is generally required that a child be four years of age prior to the start of our pre-kindergarten program.
  • Kindergarten through Eighth Grade Applicants

Upon receipt of the completed application, we invite the child to visit in our classroom, at which time we evaluate each child. Our goal during this process is to provide opportunities for the school to determine if Newtown Friends School can provide for the educational needs of each applicant.
  • Family Visits

During the admissions process, families are required to meet with the Director of Enrollment Management and tour the school.  This may be arranged prior to or during the child's more formal visit in the classroom.
  • Admissions Decisions

Families who have completed the application process will be notified of the admission decision by February 15.  In order to reserve a space in the class, admitted applicants must submit an enrollment agreement and deposit by March 1.

he Admissions Committee of Newtown Friends School provides preference to Quakers, siblings of current students, and alumni children, if all other factors are equal. In accordance with its mission, the school makes every attempt to meet each student’s needs. There are times, however, when we perceive that a student has difficulties with behavior, emotional stability, or learning differences that are beyond the scope of NFS’s capabilities.
